Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is an innovative skin treatment that involves the use of fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production, which are essential for maintaining youthful, resilient skin. Microneedling is celebrated for its versatility, addressing various skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven texture. With minimal downtime and the potential for significant results, microneedling has gained popularity among both skincare professionals and individuals seeking a rejuvenated complexion. Whether you’re looking to enhance your skincare routine or target specific issues, microneedling may be the solution you’ve been searching for.
Accutane: Avoid using Accutane for at least six months before your treatment sessions.
Topical Agents: Refrain from using retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics, or acids for 5-7 days before your appointment, as these can increase skin sensitivity.
Anti-Inflammatories: Do not take anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil for at least three days prior to your microneedling session, as they can interfere with the natural inflammatory response crucial for skin rejuvenation.
Sun Exposure: Steer clear of IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, and sunburn for at least two weeks before your treatment.
Hair Removal: Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis on the treated area for 5-7 days prior to your appointment.
Shaving: Please do not shave on the day of the procedure to prevent skin irritation. If necessary, shave the day before your appointment.
Cold Sores: If you are prone to cold sores, consider taking an antiviral medication for two days before and on the day of the treatment.
Blood Thinners: Avoid blood thinning agents for one week before your session, as bruising is a common side effect of microneedling.
After your microneedling procedure, proper care is essential for optimal results. Here are some guidelines to follow:
The Healing Process: What to Expect After Microneedling
Microneedling is a quick and non-invasive cosmetic procedure with minimal side effects. However, it’s normal to experience the following:
Days 1-3
You may notice a sunburn-like sensation, along with tightness, dryness, or sensitivity in the skin. Handle your skin gently by washing it with a mild cleanser and cool water, using only your hands to pat dry at least 4 hours after treatment.
Redness is common, and some patients might experience slight bruising that can last 5-7 days, along with temporary swelling for 2-4 days.
Tips:
Days 2-7
Peeling may begin 3-5 days after treatment as your skin goes through increased cell turnover. You might notice dryness and flaking. IMPORTANT: Do not pick, scratch, or scrub at the treated area! Allow the old skin to flake off naturally, and keep the area moisturized. Consult your skincare specialist about suitable products to use.
Days 5-7
You can resume your regular skincare products once your skin feels less irritated. Many patients notice continued improvement in their skin over the months following treatment.
For Best Results: We recommend follow-up Microneedling sessions every 4-6 weeks, typically in a series of 3-5 treatments tailored to your individual care plan.
